To commemorate Silicon Connection’s 20th Anniversary, we took up a project in partnership with World Vision Singapore to sponsor a new preschool in Myanmar.
Silicon Connection had committed to contribute to this project, which included funding of the construction of a preschool, and participation in community development project in Myanmar during period of 2019 to 2020. The goal is to increase the number and proportion of children having access and to be able to complete quality preschool education.
The preschool construction project area is in a village at Taikkyi Township, Myanmar. A total of 20 to 30 children will be direct beneficiaries once the preschool is built. This will provide them a safe and healthy learning environment to study. The new preschool (Early Childhood Care and Development) building will be equipped with fence, 2 toilets and 1 water tank with purification system.
4 Silicon Connectors, including our Managing Director K.C. Tan, visited Myanmar with World Vision Singapore from 9 to 12 February 2020. We had the opportunity to join the community Growth Monitoring Programme for children under 5 years old. We also visited one sponsored child in Taikkyi Area Programme with World Vision Singapore, to understand how the Programme will help their family.
On 12 February 2020, we met up with the 25 children in the community who will enrol in this preschool once it is completed in June 2020. We did the ground-breaking and toured around the bare land where the preschool will be constructed.
It was a pleasure to meet with the community and we hope to see them again! We truly believe that our efforts will have a positive impact on the quality of preschool education and this will give generations of children a strong foundation in education.
