Thankful for the good weather throughout the trip and also the opportunity to witness how World Vision has impacted the people in Bo Kluea.
We were pleasantly surprised to see how clean the area of Bo Kluea was and most of the villagers seemed well and happy.
The visits to the pre-school, middle school and high school were very good and fulfilling. World Vision provides support and training to the villagers in order for them to earn supplementary incomes from catfish, cow and chicken farming. We visited one vulnerable family and the head of the family shared how World Vision’s training enabled them to change their living conditions from wooden to concrete houses. They are now rearing chickens, frogs and also have a plot of land for vegetable farming.
Visited Ban Huay Loi village where we learned how World Vision’s water purification system brought clean water to villagers. We were very impressed.
During the visit to 1 pre-school, the young children welcomed us with a performance. The Centre was very neat and clean, comparable to those in Singapore. The teachers have been trained at the Child Development Centre set up by World Vision.
Visited a primary school where some of the sponsored children studied. Some of the sponsors got to see their sponsored children and spent time with them.
Visited Bo Kluea school and met students who have benefited from World Vision’s occupational skills training in screen printing and dessert making.
Visited vulnerable families who were affected by the recent landslides, they had received support from World Vision.
We met up with our sponsored children:
1. JAIPING Neung, a very shy boy
2. PAN In Arnon, a handsome boy among all the children
3. BOON IN Deuan, a 24 year old pretty young lady.
Before the trip we were told that Deuan would not be able to come to meet up with us because she was then working part time in Bangkok. However, at the last minute she appeared. She had travelled 8 hours from Bangkok just to meet our colleague, Kitti! Believed Kitti was very touched by her sincerity. Kitti has been co-sponsoring her for 12 years.
Through this trip we learnt that World Vision will withdraw from Bo Kluea ADP in year 2021 and next year they will organise the final trip to complete their project in Bo Kluea.
All trippers were very friendly and helpful. The trip leaders, Shermaine and Lydia have done a good job!
